Fly Fishing the Blue River (Below Dillon)
Rating: 3/5
Current River Conditions
March 5, 2025
The Blue below Dillon is low right now, allowing for great sight fishing conditions. The fish are rather picky to what they're eating right now, so be prepared to throw the kitchen sink! Do your best to sight fish and it'll make your fly selection much easier. If they refuse or spook off one fly, change to another. Repeat this process until they eat! Look out for spawning rainbow trout this time of year. We're aware these fish are almost all stocked, but it's still good to give them the chance to potentially produce wild offspring to populate the river. Midges will be your best friend and will continue to be for at least another month. Leading with an annelid, egg, worm, or leech will be best. Bring your 4wt to protect your light tippet and to not bend out your tiny hooks.
