The South Platte has been fishing great as of late! Midge and BWO's are hatching thick right now. As usual, we've been primarily nymph fishing, but we never hesitate to throw dries when they're actively rising. Rainbow trout are in their "mood" right now so please be aware of redds and spawning fish!! That said, fishing eggs in front of baetis and midges has been yielding high catch rates for us. If they begin to refuse the egg, switch to a hare's ear, pheasant tail, or two-bit hooker in a sz16-18. Or, if the flows have been jumping around then we'd advise a partly or completely orange scud, a leech, or worm.
