Jetu'u and Itati Lodge Combo

Golden Dorado in Argentina

Book Now

Corrientes Province is home to three very different Dorado fisheries, and Set Fly Fishing lets you combine any two in one flexible, week-long adventure. You’ll explore two contrasting environments—each with its own vibe, water type, and Dorado profile—while enjoying seamless transitions, professional guiding, and comfortable lodges. Our 2026 trip will take place at Jetu'u Lodge first, and Itati Lodge second.

Jetu’u offers a fun, high-energy introduction to Golden Dorado. The lodge gives you access to both intimate marsh environments and open stretches of the Paraná River—making it the ideal place to build confidence or simply enjoy nonstop action. From aggressive mid-sized fish in the wetlands to larger Dorado along the riverbanks, it’s a dynamic and diverse experience.

Itatí Lodge is your best shot at a truly big Dorado. The upper Paraná River is known for its clarity, structure, and resident + migratory fish populations. Every cast counts here—and every strip might trigger the fish of your lifetime.

Chasing the Golden Dorado

Chasing the Golden Dorado

Golden Dorado have become one of the most popular game species in the past few years. Many countries in South America have built amazing lodges targeting these highly revered species. That said, no one does it like Set Fly Fishing. Fishing on the mighty Parana River and the surrounding environments, there's an endless number of fish in all sizes. Throughout the six days of fishing, you'll fish at two of their three lodges to offer two unique experiences during your stay. Our 2025 trip will take place at Jetu'u and Itati Lodges, while our 2026 trip will be at La Alondra'i and Itati Lodges. Fishing will be done with topwater poppers, mice, and gurglers, as well as streamers, providing adrenaline pumping eats and fights!

Gear for Golden Dorado

Gear for Golden Dorado

On the middle section of the Paraná River, it is recommended to fish 8wt rods with primarily floating lines, but a sink tip can be helpful at times. The upper section is best fished with 8 and 9wt rods with floating and sink tip lines. Bigger flies and fish are the norm on the upper section, so having a little more muscle can help! The Ysoro Wetlands can be fished with lighter rods since most of the fish are at a younger age class. 6wt rods are perfect with floating lines. The Rio Warmwater Predator fly line series is the best for the job, as well as the Scientific Anglers Tropical/Jungle Titan Series. 40lb nylon is best the best leader material with a section of 40lb knottable wire.

Gear for Pacu and Pira Pita

Gear for Pacu and Pira Pita

Pacu and pira pita are everywhere here, which gives you the opportunity to catch different species. These fish also provide a much needed break when throwing heavy golden dorado gear becomes tiresome. We recommend 6-7wt fly rods for these species matched with the same floating fly lines recommended for golden dorado.
