Alaska

We've been to Alaska numerous times! We've brought our customers to Alaska in 2019, 2020, two times in 2024, 2025, and another two times in 2026. As you can tell this is one of our favorite spots.

Alaska offers diversity in fish species, fishing environments, fishing styles, and the adventure of a lifetime. Althought we've worked with other operations, our favorites are Naknek River Camp and Katmai Trophy Lodge.

Argentina

Argentina

Our first trip to Argentina was this year as we targeted golden dorado on the mighty Parana River. Golden dorado are hard fighting fish that eat giant streamers, once they're hooked they display incredible acrobatics!

Golden dorado aren't the only thing we pursue in Argentina, as we're hosting our first trip to Patagonia this coming February. See details above.

Baja, Mexico

Baja, Mexico

Inshore fishing at its finest, Baja, Mexico is a fun fishery with loads of fish. Although not the easiest type of fishing, roosterfish, mahi mahi, numerous tuna and jack species, and more lurk these waters.

Golden Fly Shop has hosted numerous trips through the years here! We currently have no trips in the future for Baja.

Christmas Island

Christmas Island

A little island in the middle of nowhere, Christmas Island is like none other. Wade fishing is the prominent way to fish this island, which offers more water to fish and close shots that aren't possible from a boat.

Big fish and big fights, this is the saltwater anglers dream! Bonefish, giant trevally, and triggerfish are the main targets of the island, but there's plenty of diversity to keep you entertained (including this massive bluefin trevally we got last time).

We've gone once in 2025, and due to high request numbers we will likely be adding another trip back here in the future.

Colombia

Colombia

No, not British Columbia, not DC, and not South Carolina. Colombia is an amazing adventure into the depths of the Amazon Rainforest! The jungle offers so many different fishing opportunities that it seems like you could never do them all in your lifetime.

We work with Afloat Fishing, a Colombian company that specializes in fly fishing trips for peacock bass and payara. One of the lodges we go to (Akuani River Lodge) is focused on both peacock bass and payara, where as the other (Pasimoni Lodge) focuses solely on trophy peacock bass.

Our first trip was hosted this year and we immediately booked two more for 2027! Unfortunately these trips are both completely booked, so keep your eyes peeled for 2028.

Cuba

Cuba

Golden Fly Shop has taken one trip to Cuba in 2022 and we had a blast! Bonefish, tarpon, permit, and multiple jack species were caught on our trip.

Living on a boat, however, isn't everyones cup of tea and we understand. Regardless, our experience was top notch!

We currently have no trips in the future for Cuba.

Louisiana

Louisiana

Massive redfish, black drum, and sheepshead of the Louisiana bayou should be on everyone's list! We've hosted trips here for years and will likely continue to do so.

Sighfishing in shallow water for fish worthy of breaking a 10wt is as good as it gets. Sure it's not a tropical environment, but the fishing quickly makes you forget about any beaches. Plus, who doesn't love some good southern style seafood?

Golden Fly Shop has brought customers to Louisiana every year since 2021.

Xcalak, Mexico

Xcalak, Mexico

Xcalak is regarded as one of the best permit fisheries in the world. Although not necessarily known for their size, this location is known for it's giant population! Any day out on the panga, you can expect to see 5-200 permit!

If permit aren't your cup of tea, this region of southern Mexico offers incredible fly fishing for bonefish, baby and migratory tarpon, jacks, and so much more.

Our trips have all been amazing and we cannot wait to be back already. We've hosted trips in 2024, 2025, 2026, and have two on the calendar for 2027.
