Fly Fishing at Eagle River, Colorado

It's been long overdue, but the Eagle is finally fishing again. Water temperatures have been great recently with the loads of rain and cold overnight conditions. Although these fish have had the whole summer off from being fished to, don't expect them to be easy by any means. This was an extremely hard summer for these fish with very little oxygen for them, I wouldn't be surprised to hear if there was major fish kills in the lower portion of the river. On the positive side of things, water is flowing pretty good due to the recent rain and great hatches are occuring, including BWO's, red quills, and midges. Please keep in mind brown trout are beginning to stage up for the spawn, leave spawning fish alone and be aware of redds so you don't fish on them nor walk on or near them.
